So, have you ever really thought about how good God truly is? When I read back to how things were in the bible days, as I call it, it really blows my mind on how much grace and mercy we are given each day. I won't go into depth on this post about the punishment of our sin but for instance, the story of King David. He committed adultery and murder and as punishment his first born son died, Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt, Ananias and Sapphira being struck dead right on the spot and the story of Uzzah. That was"punishment' but in today's world you don't really see things like that happening. Yes, of course the punishment of sin is death - enteral hell but to really dive deep into how much grace God really gives us is astonishing to me. It makes me more appreciative of His love for us and my desire to do what is pleasing to Him. I've stumbled so many times and gave in to temptations but yet, God showed me mercy and kindness. It's scary to think about the wrath of God - if you knew that you could be struck dead on the spot, or your child being taken from you, being turned into a pillar of salt ... would you be more cautious of the choices you made each day? Would you strive more to have a relationship with Jesus and know Him and His word?
I don't know about you but I am so thankful that God shows me mercy, His mercies are new everyday! Psalms 145:8 - The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. Lamentations 3:23-24 - They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I hope in Him! We should strive everyday to do what is pleasing to the Lord, not sin willingly or intentionally but we battle against our fleshly desires daily we are bound to sin - if we were flawless Jesus wouldn't have had to die on the cross for us. So give yourself some grace and mercy! Remember how good God truly is and thank Him for his abundant love over you, for his grace and mercy! Let's be thankful that in our times of weakness, God shows us His mercy over our lives and the next time you think things are bad or unfair remember, they could always be worse!
